micronica brings added spice to backstage

you don’t need the great soul icon james brown to remind you that “sugar and spice” makes everything feel nice. opposites attract, and when combined, they make something truly delectable. bringing some spice to our secluded little corner of barcelona was micronica records, and we were thrilled to welcome them backstage.
discover who micronica are, how their music came to be, and how we welcomed them backstage on 11 september 2026.

from latvian tradition to musical evolution
micronica began their journey in a nook of the baltic sea. latvia is only a small country, but it’s a hidden gem of culture, tradition and (arguably most important) music. founders D I N and ioan both first experienced music through latvian traditional dancing and singing, from solos to ensembles. the movements and formations that tradition instilled became the unassuming catalyst for a passion for artistic expression from an early age.
like most teens around the globe, D I N and ioan discovered club culture in their teenage years, and that’s where an era of experimentation began: no longer were the pair just listening, they were creating. those creations were the perfect accompaniment to small private parties, giving what would become micronica the chance to create free of judgement, a plan or some grand goal. instead, micronica began crafting music purely for the thrill, the love, the passion.
“it doesn’t shout, and it’s not in your face.”
while trends tend to dominate the music industry, micronica’s sound is far from it. this minimalist collective is all about creating sound that connects with people on a deeper level: pulling you in, layering, composing something precious that’s only felt with a little time.
their dj sets reflect this too. storytelling is at the centre, with one track journeying into the next like pages in a book, rather than simply playing tracks for the sake of it. with each new page, a deeper, richer sound evolves.
many of the greats have been inspired by things outside themselves: john coltrane drew inspiration from his faith, while billie holiday drew on early blues pioneers like bessie smith. micronica follows feelings rather than trends, but some big influences have shaped their sound, from timeless classics like depeche mode to artists like arapu, silat beksi, barac and triptil, to name just a few.
moving beyond borders
our new range of seasonal backstage cocktails oozes a sense of self and story, and presents something totally original: with each sip you know you’re tasting something you can’t find elsewhere. the same goes for micronica’s sound and community.
micronica is a thriving record label, but its heart is with the community its founders have spent years building, and with the music it produces. latvia is a small country, and it can be hard to grow in a niche scene. one reason we love barcelona so much is its vibrant mix of cultures, communities and flavours. la textil collective is an ecosystem where people, art and music come together and form something special. looking to expand their horizons and widen their community, micronica brought something unique to backstage alongside deep district.
